Paul has always had a passion for fishing and boats, wife Sue shares his marine dream, so it was no surprise when they up rooted from leafy Hampshire, to settle in the marina complex of Port Guillaume in northern France.
The decision to charter ‘Evasion’ was a two-fold driven. With our holiday-let property on the complex, the question ‘is there a boat we can go on?’ is often asked of us. Secondly owning your own boat can be very, very expensive and sometimes unjustifiable, so ‘Evasion’ has to earn her keep. From experience older boats for charter work did not seem appropriate, so in 2006 ‘Evasion’ was ordered from a French boatyard and now sits in the marina at Port Guillaume flying the French flag.
The boat is nearly always joint skippered with both Paul and Sue holding
RYA Certificates of Competence, Powerboat Level 2, CEVNI endorsement and VHF Radio Operator licences. Paul also holds a Commercial Skippers licence and has completed Survival at Sea and Marine First Aid courses.
Paul and Sue have all the local knowledge essential for finding the best fishing spots, harbours and ports of interest and local marine environment.
At the end of the day this is all about fast boats, fishing and fun, but safety
always remains paramount aboard ‘Evasion’.
